About PAINT!
Set against the backdrop of a socially constructed notion that communities of color are “more homophobic than white communities,” Singleton, chases the metaphor of the rainbow from her earliest childhood memories in the church to today’s rainbow clad “twirly” boys and “dykes on bikes.” Sile guides the audience through the very personal journey of an American Black Midwest Queer Trans-person and her quest for the symbol of hope and ‘everlasting inclusion.’
About Sile P. Singleton
Sile P. Singleton’s LUSTER Dela Virgion is a leading force in producing and promoting the modern day Drag King explosion. Hr social commentary on the intersections of race, gender and educational privilege are at once humorous and incredibly insightful. Truly a “G-blend for all ages,” LUSTER is a host emcee, social activist, critical theorist, cultural commentator, performance artist, parent, christian and a buttload of other things dependant upon the moment. S/he is a life student of gender disruptions, always reclaiming, re-examining and challenging the status quo within and at the margins of everyday life. SiLE has toured the nation with hr premier one person multimedia show “PAINT! a transformative project” and with the Fo’ Dem Ladeez Tour; a unique blend of live hip hop laced with innovative gender-bending. Off the road s/he volunteers, promotes and produces events around the Midwest cultural hub of Columbus, Ohio.
Currently she is totally excited about and in production for her upcoming webTV show; CHECK THIS OUT! on FABBVISIONNETWORK.com. As a co-founder, five time executive producer, 3 time consultant for IDKE, you could say…THERE IS MAD LOVE FOR THIS EVENT! Never what you’d imagine and always what you see, Sile’s favorite answer to the age ol’ question, “are you a girl or a boy,” is “I’m whatever you see and want me to be.”
